Mary Burress, pictured below, and her team put on another great meeting. This one was at the Pekin Dome.
Mike Unes described activity in Springfield pointing out
that the State Pension Fund is $130 billion under funded and that we have $13
billion in unpaid bills. He also advised that the Democrats have voted
legislation to allow the State to fund abortions even if the Federal Law
changes. Most importantly he reminded us that we need 9 more Republican
Legislators in Springfield to get control. We have 51 now.
Senator Brady also spoke and advised that if it weren’t for
Gerrymandering, Illinois would be a Red State. I was once told that the
Illinois Republican Central Committee determined that the Illinois Democrats in
Chicago are able to cheat for about 10% of the vote - in which case Senator
Brady actually won his race for Governor. Too bad; he would have made a great
governor.
Keith Sommer spoke and in particular pointed out that Darin
LaHood’s recent performance in the city of Washington was outstanding and
should seal his victory in the next election.
Keith is on the International Trade Committee. Keith also recognized,
Ron Rainson, the Mayor of Morton and his wife. Rainson later shared the
observation that while the Democrats are surely in second place at this point,
many people, including Republicans now think the Democrats are “evil” rather
than just the other guys but “the
Republicans aren’t much better.” We have lots of work to do.
Tim Butler spoke about the need to elect enough Republicans
to end the ruinous reign of Mike Madigan and the two Tazewell Candidates for
Sheriff, Jeff Lower and Mike Eeten, spoke.
